A wide range of potential commercial applications exist, including cosmetics and over-the-counter medicines. The company is seeking to license the technology to companies developing products in the cosmetics and over the counter medicine markets. The main advantages that the shells have over other encapsulation technology are their robustness and ease of use. The shells can be easily filled with active ingredients and they can then transport those active ingredients into other containment media, such as creams. They disperse within these forms without any additional additives and then slow release their contents.
